Give your horse the best start in life - start their education with trust and understanding, under the guidance of Mark Langley. Horses can be started under saddle or
educated further.

"We would like to express our appreciation to you on the professional and capable
way you started our two young horses and brought them to where we were able to continue with their education. We could not be happier with how they have
turned out."
Pub Crawls on Horseback

"Thank you again for giving Tiny such a great start to his education." Debbie Cavanagh

Mark is usually fully booked months in advance for horse starting. To avoid disappointment, don't leave it to the last minute to book your horse in!

Horse Starting:
What you need to know.....

1) How they are trained: Programs are tailored according to their individual needs. Mark will not religiously jump on a horse after 2 days - he will wait until he thinks he has the horses trust and understanding. Some horses take longer than others. We would rather take the time to build a firmer foundation than rush a horse through. Your horses progress and potential will be discussed with you during this time.

Mark uses methods based mostly from his own experience, which developed from the concepts of Parrelli Natural Horsemanship. However, he decided to develop techniques which were more transferable to the average horse rider, and stock worker, who weren't going to use many of the Parelli games or methods. Mark believes his methods hold the horse in high regard, rewarding them as they would want to be rewarded - not with a pat but space, away from us.

2) Where they are trained: Each horse that is trained here is quickly ridden out on the property, gaining education and enjoyment from simply being out and about. With rolling grazing country, rugged forests and two rivers, the property provides a great environment for the education of horses. Most horses get ridden out on the property for 2 out of 3 of the weeks that they are here. That's good grounding.

3) Timing: Reckon on it taking 3 weeks to start your horse, unless they have issues or are particularly nervous of people. This program suits those who are well used to training horses themselves. For general riders we recommend and prefer a 4-6 week program which instills their training here even more thoroughly & produces a horse which will be more reliable, grounded and advanced in its responses and performance.

4) Limited places: We take a maximum of 5 horses to be started simultaneously, giving
your horse the quality time it deserves.

5) The end result?: All horses will be worked until they are mouthed, can turn and flex and are able to be ridden in all gaits. They will be trained to be able to take a stock whip off their back and will be exposed to general farm machinery and dogs.

6) Our Guarantee: If your horse, after being with us, behaves unsafely we will continue to work with your horse for no extra cost. You must have come and watched Mark demonstrate your horses ability before it left our care and you must contact us within four weeks of having the horse returned.
